TaxProProof provides information from public government databases for informational purposes only. It is not tax, legal, or financial advice, and does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of any preparer. The inclusion of a preparer on this site does not imply we have verified their competence, quality of service, or suitability for your needs. Always confirm a preparer's standing directly with the IRS or your state's board before hiring.
2. Data Sources & Accuracy
We source data from the IRS Consolidated PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) List and state tax-preparer registries. This data is presented as-is. Information may be outdated between our refresh cycles. We make reasonable efforts to keep data current but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy.
TaxProProof does not publish trust scores, tiers, ratings, or endorsements. We surface only what the IRS PTIN registry contains — credential class, firm affiliation on record, and business contact information. Confirm license status with the issuing authority before hiring any preparer.
3. Use of Service
You may use TaxProProof for personal, non-commercial research purposes — such as finding a tax preparer in your area or verifying that someone holds a valid PTIN. The following uses are prohibited:
- Automated scraping, crawling, or bulk data extraction
- Republishing or reselling data from this site
- Using data for unsolicited marketing or spam directed at listed preparers
- Misrepresenting your identity or affiliation when contacting listed preparers
4. Recommendation Feature
The "Find a Tax Pro" feature matches you with registered preparers based on location and stated needs. Results are algorithmically generated and partially randomized — they do not represent a curated endorsement. We receive no compensation from listed preparers for placement or ranking. No preparer can pay to appear higher in results.
5. Intellectual Property
The underlying public record data belongs to the US government and is not copyrightable. Our scoring algorithms, website design, text content, and code are © 2026 TaxProProof. You may link to any page on this site without permission.
6. Limitation of Liability
TaxProProof is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site, reliance on information displayed, or interactions with any preparer found through this service. Your use of this site is at your own risk.
7. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date.
